Why this site?
I really love this day where my Art work can be wired to people without the blessings of magazine editor.
This portal contains the result of my hobbies like; photographs, paintings et cetera.
Overall this site all about me, me, me, me....I feel like a narcissist :-)
Why show my work at all?
There are several reasons ranging from self satisfaction to selfishness. Here are some debatable motives.
- Exercise or process of photography, paintings have a life cycle of their own; when this process reaches the end, executor/artist touches satisfaction.
For commercial artist, successful sale may mark the end of process; but for me, process culminates when I make an internet photo gallery and send it to friends.
In the end I feel I am doing something and keep the dust off my life.
- Pictures, paintings create the suction required to turn a stranger in to a friend and may also help maintain it. It may give something for others to identify me.
- More than anything, pictures and paintings expose the sensitivity, values and the mind itself. I think, following quote by Emerson, conveys the message piercingly.
"The man is only half himself, the other half is his expression"
Where were these pictures captured at?
My favorite subjects for photography are immovable things like: mountain, leaf, cloud and tree. I picture two types' of nature subjects.
-
Small Things:-When I hike, I constantly gaze at the forest floor and see so many small unknown things waiting to be photographed.
I guess each day those forest floors dress up not only differently but also uniquely.
I get immense satisfaction spending 15 minutes photographing, at every stop on the hiking trail.
I go alone for hiking and these photo breaks are an intimate exercise for me. I believe that these photo-hiking trips make my pictures different. This type of photography is known as MACRO photography.
- Big things:- Mountains and vista are big and indeed beautiful; but compared to forest floor, these landscapes do not change much on weekly basis and are like low hanging fruits.
I do shoot vast landscapes but my favorite is random lives strewn on forest floor.
Back to the beginning...
Surprising fact is, at the time of birth, no one gets chance to select their culture, time & place.
We all trickle down like rain drops, rather slowly, defying gravity take 9 months. I was born in Bangalore when there
were still trees on either side of road. Bangalore grew to become Silicon Valley and so me a Software Engineer. As if I had no option,
I moved to California to work. Currently I am in Long Island, New York and consider lucky to be still using C++ at work.
Stammerring...
I stammer and it is a very important fact to be mentioned because it made me puruse non-verbal hobbies, may be rather obssesively...:-)
~best~of~luck~
